The sun is shining, the stove is “broken” and the hurried pace of life has calmed to a leisurely rhythm. Sticking close to home this summer? We’ve got the perfect staycation idea for you and your friends – summer Tastings! School’s out for the season – but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy a bit of socializing with those your own age. If you’re on the fence about Hosting, or think it may be too difficult to do, we’re here to set the record straight with these great tips.
Keep the guest list to under 16 people and invite them at least 3 weeks prior to your Tasting. Create a Facebook Event and invite them that way, or send them electronic invites or paper invites. Ask your Wine Consultant to show you some great, WineShop At Home-exclusive, customizable paper invitations.
Foods to Serve.
Not feeling up to concocting something from Julia Child’s Mastering the Art of French Cooking? You’re in luck. Summer is the perfect time to stick to our “keep it simple” approach. Choose a variety of cheeses, with a selection of mild (Brie, Camembert, Teleme or Monterey Jack), medium (Havarti, Gouda or Edam) and strong (Blue, Gorgonzola or Stilton) cheeses. Fresh fruit, chocolates, charcuterie, crackers, breadsticks or sliced baguette are also great additions to your spread.
It’s the Little Things.
Stock up on ice or set aside some space in your fridge to chill your white, sparkling and rosé wines. Prepare a pitcher of water, or set out some water bottles so your guests can stay hydrated throughout the Tasting. A Wine Tasting Receptacle and corkscrew are great items to have on hand. Artisan 5 Star Stems and Decanters will provide the ultimate Wine Tasting experience and are classically beautiful for any number of occasions.
The Wine, of Course!
Our Wine Tasting Sampler ($29.95 plus tax and shipping) takes the guesswork out of what wines to enjoy. It includes 5 bottles of artisan wines, plus a bottle just for you – the Host – making it an easy, economical way to try amazing wines with your friends. Choose between 4 different Samplers. Ask your Consultant about the wines currently offered in each Sampler, or ask for their recommendation based on your guests’ preferences. Your wines will ship directly to you – it’s as easy as that!
