“North Coast is one of the first sub appellations to be designated on California wine labels, but today is usually seen on inexpensive, and generally unremarkable wines. Not so in this case, where we find a lovely Bordeaux styled wine that’s vinted and bottled by WineShop At Home. It really shows the herbal character of the Cabernet Franc, balanced by blackberry and black cherry fruit and cedar spice notes. It’s got the acid backbone to pair with rich red meat dishes — a salt encrusted flatiron steak would be perfect. Contains 43% Cabernet Sauvignon, 41% Cabernet Franc, 15% Merlot and 1% Petit Verdot. About the Artisan 5 2012 Masterpiece:

A handcrafted blend created by our winemaker from the harvest of highly prestigious single vineyards, our Artisan 5 brand arose, like any great work of art, out of a passion for perfection. Since the Middle Ages, an apprentice Artisan proved his abilities and skills by creating a masterpiece. With that same passionate quest for perfection, our Artisan 5 Masterpiece represents our aspirations and the very best of our offerings, reflecting our vision of what a great wine should be – meticulously nurtured from the vineyard, to the barrel, to the bottle, and then sealed with the perfect cork. Sheer perfection!

Our 2012 Artisan 5 Masterpiece was produced using fruits from two prestigious AVA, 54% of Knights Valley in Sonoma County and 46% from the Spring Mountain District in Napa Valley. Our Masterpiece is 43% Cabernet Sauvignon, 41% Cabernet Franc, 15% Merlot and 1% Petit Verdot. Knights Valley and Spring Mountain are known as two of the top sites in the world for growing grapes. Most of the fruits are produced with a very low yield down to 3 or 4 tons per acre.
