Joy Cellars 2018 Pays D’Oc, France Pinot Noir
Pinot Noir is king in the Southeast of France and particularly in Burgundy.
As a red wine, it is always dry and fruit-forward. Pinot Noir represents almost half of the grapes used to make sparkling wine in other regions, like Champagne. This French Pinot Noir displays dark fruit characters, like blackberry, black currant and raspberry, followed by notes of dark chocolate, tobacco and toasted oak. The mouth is dry in the attack, then juicy in the mouthfeel and the finish. Somewhat uncharacteristic of the varietal, this Pinot Noir offers generous tannins with a long finish.
