This mature Deluge 2012 Storm is a red blend of 46% Malbec, 43% Petit Verdot and 11% Cabernet Sauvignon from the Sierra Foothills AVA. This wine has very light red fruit characters like blackberry and blueberry. This wine has many layers of oak flavors throughout the mouth. Whisky lactone compounds formed during the barrel making process produced vanilla and coconut aromas, which dominate the nose. We also have some cigar box, pepper and cedar characters. This wine is a very good example of an aged Bordeaux-style blend, with tannins, acidity and structure. The French oak barrel ageing resulted in a very well-balanced wine.
This medium-bodied blend will pair well with roast beef, rack of lamb or grilled chicken. Try it with the featured recipe: Slow Cooker Asian-Style Sour Beef Short Ribs.
