Our Joy Cellars 2017 Tannat was grown in the Lodi region of California. It has a very structured nose, first showcasing fruity components of cherry, raspberry and blackberry aromas. Smoky, beef jerky-types of characters develop in the finish. This is a dry red produced from one hundred percent Tannat grapes. It is very fluid in the attack and has a medium tannic intensity, a pleasant mouthfeel and a long finish. There is low acidity, tipping the scale toward fruit and tannins. Mature notes of coffee and leather are showcased in this young 2017 vintage.
This Tannat is great for food pairing. Enjoy it with lasagna, marinated and grilled meats or vegetables of all kinds. Try it with the featured recipe: Mediterranean Marinated Chicken.
