Valentine’s Day & Winter Wine Tasting Themes

Hosting a Wine Tasting is simple and fun! All you need to do is invite your wine-loving friends, lay out a few nibbles, pour the wine and enjoy as your Wine Consultant guides you through the Tasting. But if you’re feeling creative and a little adventurous, these Wine Tasting themes will delight your guests this season.

Try one of these easy Valentine’s Day & winter ideas or create your own theme – you’re limited only by your imagination!

Couples’ Night – Now is the perfect time to have a couples-themed Wine Tasting. Have each couple bring their favorite appetizer, cheese or chocolate and match it with their favorite wine at the Tasting.

Cupcake & Wine Pairing – Let them eat cupcakes and drink wine! Have each guest bring their favorite cupcake to the Tasting and have a sweet time pairing them with different wines. Try donuts if cupcakes aren’t your thing.

“Gal”entine’s Day – Raise a glass with your best girlfriends with a Galentine’s Day Wine Tasting. Coined by Amy Poehler’s Parks and Recreation character Leslie Knope, Galentine’s Day is a day set aside for pampering, having fun and celebrating friendship.

Singles’ Night – Invite your best single friends over for your Wine Tasting. Wine is social and a Tasting is the perfect opportunity to meet new people. TIP: Have each guest take the Vinotype Quiz beforehand, then have everyone share their results during the Tasting to see who has a matching wine personality.

Chocolate & Wine Pairing – Go straight to dessert and pair different types of chocolates with your Wine Tasting Sampler.

Love is Blind Tasting – Add a bit of intrigue with a blind Wine Tasting. Wrap or place a bag around each wine bottle, labeling each with a number. Everyone will have ball guessing which wine they are tasting based on the descriptors and clues given by your Wine Consultant. At the end of the Tasting, tally up the results and see who had the most correct matches!

Girl Scout Cookie & Wine Pairing – Forget the milk. What better way to whittle down your stash of these sweet treats than with a Girl Scout Cookie & Wine Pairing Tasting? Cookies and milk get a major upgrade when you pair them with wine. Not yet Girl Scout cookie season in your area? Have each guest bring their favorite store-bought cookies to share during the Tasting.

Fondue Wine Tasting – Serve up pretzels, marshmallows, fruit or shortbread cookies with an easy chocolate fondue, or lay out chunks of bread, apples, veggies or crackers with a classic cheese fondue. Have each guest bring an ingredient to keep it simple. It’s warm, easy and oh so delicious when paired with wine!

Pajama Party Wine Tasting – Settle in and get comfy with a pajama party for grown-ups. Lay out some easy snacks and tell your guests to show up wearing their best wintertime pajamas.

Hollywood Glam Wine Tasting – Hollywood award season is officially underway, culminating with the Academy Awards on March 4th. To celebrate, host a cinematic Tasting that your guests will remember long after the Tasting is over. Dress in your glamorous, red carpet best, or as your favorite movie character. Serve popcorn and pair movie theater candy with your Sampler wines to complete the theme. At the end of the Tasting, hand out awards for best taster, best pairing and best dressed.

(February 25th) Open That Bottle Night – “Open That Bottle Night” is celebrated on the last Saturday of February every year. Wine lovers around the world get together with friends and family and pop open “that one special” bottle of wine sitting in their cellar or stashed away in a cabinet to enjoy at just the right occasion. Before booking your Tasting, ask your Wine Consultant about our Luxe Custom Pack options. These statement-making wines will ship along with your Wine Tasting Sampler and they are the perfect way to treat your guests and celebrate OTBN any day of the year!
