We were proud to take home 5 big awards at the 2016 New York International Wine Competition, held this past May in the heart of the Big Apple. Our flagship wine, the Artisan 5 Masterpiece, took home the coveted “Cab Franc of the Year” award, in addition to a Gold Medal. Read on for the list of our award-winning wines!

Artisan 5 2013 Masterpiece

CABERNET FRANC OF THE YEAR
GOLD MEDAL

Our Artisan 5 2013 Masterpiece is a blend of 85% Cabernet Franc from Lake County and Alexander Valley and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon from Yountville. The nose displays complex aromas with a combination of blackberry, black cherry and plum. The second nose reveals vanilla, tobacco, licorice and leather notes. The palate of toasted flavors is one of the richest we have ever had in recent years at WineShop At Home. The mouth provides a round, silky, tannic structure in the attack. Following a great balance of tannins and acidity, an elegant, creamy mouthfeel leads us all the way to the finish.

Harlow Court 2013 Cabernet Franc

SILVER MEDAL

Our Harlow Court 2013 Cabernet Franc was produced with 85% Cabernet Franc from Lake County. For extra depth and complexity, 10% of Merlot and 5% of Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley were blended. The result is dense, concentrated and flavorful, with the ability to age for well over a decade. We suggest you decant this wine for 30 minutes at room temperature to release the memorable aromas of this mature wine.

Terroir Cellars 2015 Tempranillo

SILVER MEDAL

Our Terroir Cellars 2015 Castilla-La Mancha, Spain Tempranillo displays fresh black currant, blackberry and black cherry. Dried herbs, violet undertones, earthy and smoky aromas complete this complex bouquet. The mouth is thick with big tannins. This wine is very voluptuous and a perfect companion for short ribs, roast beef, Cheddar, Monterey Jack or Swiss cheese.

Terroir Cellars 2014 l’Ouverture

BRONZE MEDAL

Our Terroir Cellars 2014 Bordeaux, France l’Ouverture is a blend of 80% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc from the Bordeaux AOC (French for American AVA) north of the famous Pomerol and Saint-Emilion Appellations. This wine displays all its potential with aromas of toasted oak, caramel and vanilla. This bold, expressive and well-balanced red blend offers many pairing opportunities such as roasted chicken or cheeses such as Camembert, Brie or Gruyere.
